Stand With Us. Build With Us.
Our children deserve a building that matches the care we provide inside it.
The Next 100 Years Start Now
The Annie Malone Children and Family Services building is well over a hundred years old and has fallen into an alarming state of disrepair. It must be saved and we NEED YOUR HELP!
We have launched our Capital Campaign to raise the funds to renovate and restore this magnificent building to its former glory so that we can continue our service to the community for the next 100 years.
Why This Campaign Matters
Children who enter our doors are often facing unimaginable challenges — trauma, instability, abuse, neglect, or family crisis. What they need most is safety, dignity, and an environment that reflects their worth.
While our mission has never wavered, our main building — rich in history and impact — requires significant restoration and modernization to continue serving families with excellence.
This $50 million investment will:
- Restore and preserve our historic structure
- Modernize therapeutic and residential spaces
- Improve safety, accessibility, and technology
- Expand capacity to serve more children and families
- Ensure Annie Malone remains a cornerstone of St. Louis for the next 100 years
We are not just repairing walls.
We are strengthening the foundation of hope for generations to come.
Corporate & Major Donors
This campaign offers visionary leaders, corporations, and philanthropists the opportunity to align their name with one of the most historic child-serving organizations in Missouri.
Naming opportunities, legacy gifts, and multi-year pledges will help transform our campus into a modern sanctuary for healing — while cementing your commitment to the future of St. Louis families.
Before You Go...
The children cannot wait.
The mission cannot pause.
The building must rise to meet the moment.
Join us as we raise $50 million to restore the heart of Annie Malone.
Because the next 100 years start here.
The History of Annie Malone
Annie Malone Children and Family Services, Inc. is so much more than a multiservice center dedicated to children and families. It also is an institution that embodies the heart of Annie Minerva Turnbo Pope Malone, a pioneering woman, who created the African-American Health and Beauty industry in the early 1900s and became a multi-millionaire by the early 1920s.
She was a renowned philanthropist, unselfishly and unabashedly donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to African-American educational institutions in St. Louis and throughout America for the “uplift of her race.”
Founded 1888 as the St. Louis Colored Orphan’s Home by a small group of concerned women, the agency received from Annie Malone in 1919 a $10,000 donation so that a new orphanage could be built. To honor her perpetual generosity and her many years of service as board president, in 1946 the agency was renamed Annie Malone Children’s Home.
The building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, not only bears her name, but it also personifies her spirit and her dedication to the service of her community. It occupies an important place in the history of The Ville Neighborhood and the history of St. Louis.
